The late Mrs Maphala Edith Gulube, founder and the visionary of Embalenhle Aged Group

Embalenhle Aged Group Entered into a register as an NPO on the 20th of November 2001 and registered with social development on the 20th of November 2001 by the late Maphala Edith Gulube. The members of the community saw a need for a service center to be established. The members took the initiative and negotiated with the Department of Social development in regard to services for the elderly and disabled people.

This service is the only service of its kind in the entire community of Embalenhle . The elderly and disabled people were identified as a vulnerable group and often at risk of victims of abuse and neglect. They were the victims of crime and retreated and robbed of their pension provided by the government.

Most of the elderly look after their grandchildren with very little resources available. The need for a safe center, socialization with peers, conversion of nutritious meals and stimulation activities arouse strongly and resulted in a very productive community therefore Embalenhle Age Group was established.

The organization continues to ensure that the elderly and their needs are taken care of as well as their mental health.
